According to a new poll in today’s Sunday Times, Sinn Féin are steadily gaining new support from the electorate.

The figures from the Behaviour and Attitudes poll show that Sinn Féin has the backing of 25 per cent of people. This slots them in behind Fine Gael and but comfortably ahead of Finna Fáil. It’s hard to believe that Sinn Féin are the second most popular political party now, even after years of campaigning without much support from the electorate. God loves a trier.

The poll was carried out between February 15 and 20 and included 900 voters from across the country. It found out some interesting facts including: only 26 per cent of people are satisfied with the current government, 70 per cent are dissatisfied while 3 per cent have no opinion.

Support for Enda has dropped three points down to 41 per cent since the last poll taken in December. Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore drops one point down to 34 per cent while Micheál Martin is down a whopping seven points to 33 per cent.

The highest rated leader at the moment is Sinn Féin’s Gerry Adams who now has a 46 per cent rating, the highest of any of the leaders.

So, Sinn Féin have the most popular party, and the most popular leader, but yet, Fine Gael and Enda are running the show. Sure sounds like Ireland.
