Are you flying with Ryanair this weekend? If so, you’d want to check in online as soon as possible as there will be a planned closure of the site over the weekend.
Now, straight off the bat you’d have to assume that Ryanair are closing down their website this weekend in some sort of hare-brained money making (or saving) scheme. Well, funnily enough, they’re not.
The site is being closed from 10pm Friday until midnight on Saturday for maintenance reasons, which means passengers will have to print off their tickets before then or they’ll have to face a hefty fine. Basically, they’re making the site more user friendly, which is a plus.
We know what you’re thinking: “A hefty fine from Ryanair you say? Surely you can’t be serious?” Well, we are. If you forget to print off your own boarding card (which we’ll assume costs less than one euro to do at home) then you’ll have to get one printed off at the Ryanair desk in the airport, which costs €40. How’s that for a hefty fine?
The airline said it will be contacting passengers through email, and advised anyone who is flying on Saturday or Sunday to check in online before 4pm on Friday, as there could be a typical last minute surge of traffic. Sure it is Ireland.
So, if you’re lucky enough to be heading to the Champions League final this weekend and you’re flying with Ryanair then avoid the unnecessary fines and book yourself into your flight now.
