People in the greater Dublin area are being asked to chill a little with their water usage as plants are currently running at full capacity due to the warm weather.
Dublin City Council’s Brian Hennelly was on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland this morning saying that due to the warm weather we’ve been experiencing, an extra 30 million litres of water are being used on average per day – that’s a whole lot of Mi-Wadi.
“The issue at the moment is that our plants are running at near capacity to match the current usage,” he said.
But we wouldn’t go rushing to the panic stations just yet. Mr Hennelly also said that the region isn’t currently suffering from a shortage, which is good, but the greater consumption will put a strain on the supply, which is bad.
Now we know what you’re thinking: the end of April and the start of May were absolutely sh*te so how come the reservoirs aren’t full? Well, they are full actually. But there is only a limited capacity to produce clean drinking water, so just keep that in mind is all they’re saying.
