Looks like the Chinese have an interest in Galway… but why?

It looks like the Chinese have a certain soft spot for Galway as the country’s largest news agency is coming over to make a series of TV shows about the county. Good news for Galway so…

Of all the places in the whole world for one of the largest news agencies to make a series of TV documentaries, it’s Galway. Who’d of thunk it?

According to this morning’s Irish Sun, the Chinese news network Xinhua – China’s equivalent of RTÉ, just a tad bigger – will be flying into Galway to report on the county’s trade and tourism, which is absolutely fantastic news for Galway and Ireland.

Hopefully now we’ll see an influx of Chinese tourists heading to our emerald isle, and sure why not? Aren’t they a great bunch of lads after all?

According to Fine Gael Senator Fidelma Healy Eames, Chinese officials will be coming to Ireland next week to start filming in the county.

She said, “I’m delighted that Xinhua has chosen Galway as the location for its programmes about Ireland. It has a potential TV audience of around one billion people.”

So lads, if you’re in Galway and you see a Chinese film crew, try not to act the b*llocks in front of them… We certainly don’t want this to happen.
