Last night, Roy Keane said that the Irish people shouldn’t follow the Irish team out just for the sing-song. Here’s the particular ‘sing-song’ that kicked it all off.
Last night the Irish proved two things to the rest of Europe. Firstly, you can never rarely beat the Irish. Secondly, if there was a European-wide singing contest, Ireland would win hands down… oh, wait.
In fairness, it’s not often that you see the losing side singing and shouting their hearts out for their players even though they’re down by four goals.
The Irish lads start belting out Fields of Athenry about four minutes before the end of the game and they continue right through until the final whistle.
According to Roy, we need less of this, but what do you think?
Down with this sort of thing? Or fans of the tournament?
