Two guys in Sweden are boldly planning on going where no DIY enthusiast has gone before: space.
There are certain DIY jobs that should be left to the professionals, such as replacing a new boiler, gutting out insulation and building a rocket with enough room and power to send a man 60 miles above the earth.
Regardless of the above safety advice, two lads in Sweden decided they’d make their very own rocket with the capability of going up into space. And you know what? It looks like it could actually work – which is not something you might initially think when you hear DIY, space and rocket all in the same sentence.
Kristian von Bengtson and Peter Madsen are the two men in question and they set up their awe-inspiring DIY project called Copenhagen Suborbitals over four years ago.
But don’t go thinking you can buy a pricy seat aboard the rocket for it’s maiden voyage. Unlike Virgin Atlantic, Copenhagen Suborbital’s future plans don’t include selling trips to the moon.
“The actual flight is not really what drives us. It’s the whole process of building, encountering problems and designing solutions,” von Bengtson said. “The actual launch will be somewhat of a sad thing for everyone.”
