An underage drinker over in the UK has been banned from his local pub for attempting to use a fake I.D. that claimed he was the famous TV character Rodney Trotter.
We all know someone who has used their brother’s or cousin’s I.D. to get booze when they probably should have been studying for the Leaving Cert. However, one young lad over in the UK obviously never thought of asking a relative and instead opted for identification that claimed he was… one of British TV’s best loved characters, Rodney Trotter (above left).
Apparently, the bouncers at the pub got a tad suspicious when they noticed that the address on the novelty driving licence was 23 Nelson Mandela House, Peckham – the exact same address as the Trotters from the TV – and the fact that it said he was born on February 26, 1960.
To make matters worse, the fake card featured a photograph of actor Nicholas Lyndhurst and the young chancer in question claimed to be 24, even though his fake I.D. would have made him 52.
A manager at the bar said, “He was a bit drunk, he handed over the ID and I looked at it…
“It had Rodney Trotter’s picture and I said to him “so this is you?” and he just said “yeah yeah yeah”.
“I made the doormen UV the ID just to wind him up really and they started giggling and playing along with him.”
The underage lad trotted on before the police could arrive but apparently it could have gotten nasty if he stuck around. According to a police officer who eventually showed up on the scene, “A forged licence can get you two years,” he warned. “People should think very hard about the consequences.”
