Tonight you can throw the feet up and relax with live football at the Red Bull Arena in New York, The Omen is our movie, The Lottery Liar is the main event and Nurse Jackie is On Demand.
Main Event: The Lottery Liar, TV3, 10pm
The Lottery Liar follows the life of a painter and decorator, named Howard Walmsley, since the revelation that his claims of an £8.9million lottery win was just a lie to save his marriage. Sounds like a pretty big lie to us… The programme features interviews with Howard and his missus, as well as firsthand footage and pictures of their celebration party, their holiday to the Canary Islands and their first visit to their dream home. We don’t see how an ‘I’m Sorry’ card and a bunch of flowers didn’t cross his mind.
Sport Pick: Live Football Friendly: Tottenham Hotspur v New York Red Bulls, ESPN, 12am
Tonight’s football is on a tad late, but that shouldn’t deter you from staying up past your bedtime (which has probably been set by the wife) to watch New York Red Bulls v Tottenham Hotspur (kick-off is at 12.00am (GMT) on the dot). All the action comes live from the friendly at the Red Bull Arena. You’ll be able to see a few familiar faces on the Red Bull team and a few of the first string premiership lads will be playing for Spurs too.
Movie Pick: The Omen, Film4, 11.25pm
The Omen is all about an American diplomat who secretly adopts a newborn baby when his own son dies at birth. As a series of unusual deaths occurs around him, he gradually comes to suspect the child he is raising is the son of the Devil. Is he right? Or is he wrong? Well, you could pretty much guess at this stage. Richard Donner’s horror, starring Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Billie Whitelaw, David Warner and Patrick Troughton, with Jerry Goldsmith supplying the Oscar-winning score.
On-Demand Pick: Nurse Jackie
There aren’t many options on terrestrial TV tonight, so we recommend you try out UPC’s new On Demand service if you want to continue watching top class entertainment, as the service includes the RTÉ Player, 3Player and a host of boxsets and other shows, free to all UPC customers. This week’s pick is the hilarious, but dramatic.
