The main topic on Twitter today was Garth Crooks’s ability as analyst and Jonathon Wilson’s thoughts on the subject is our Tweet of the Day.

Ahead of the BBC’s coverage of the Brazil versus Mexico, where Brazil managed to keep up their record of never winning an Olympic title in male soccer losing 2-1, Garth Crooks named his team of the tournament which featured Oscar and Neymar in midfield in the most unbalanced side ever considered. Jack Butland who made some crucial mistakes also featured.

This, we can only imagine, infuriated the football fountain of knowledge that is Jonathon Wilson editor of the wonderful Blizzard magazine who tweeted our Tweet of the Day:

Others were slightly less considered in their opinion of Crooks’s ability as an analyst:

In fairness to Crooks you could probably expect this lack of consideration for balance on his side given that there’s a reasonable chance he doesn’t know how many players are in a soccer team, judging from this piece of analyst during the week:

You can’t get rid of him though or else you’d miss out on hilarious TV moments like this when he appeared on Sky News:
