Today is the day after the night before, when Leaving Cert students celebrated their results in time-honoured fashion… you know the rest.
While the heads of our best and brightest were full of the joys of looking ahead to college and the future yesterday afternoon, chances are that this morning they were full of conflicting thoughts about what exactly they got up to last night.
After what they had to go through in their final year of school, we’re not going to begrudge them a celebration, but even their achievements yesterday probably weren’t enough to spare them some withering looks from their parents whenever they rose from the cot earlier today.
We’d wager that the tweet below from the always excellent Irish Mammies account is a fairly accurate reflection of the thoughts of mothers across the land this morning and might even raise a chuckle amongst the poor teenagers yet to get over the effects of last night’s celebrations.
