It has been reported that Tony Scott, the man who brought us the action packed blockbuster Top Gun, had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer prior to his death, however, his wife is denying these claims.
It was a sad day for movie lovers everywhere on Sunday night after we learned that the beloved action director Tony Scott died after he jumped off a 185ft tall suspension bridge in Los Angeles.
According to reports from the New York Post, Tony Scott had previously been treated for cancer and recently suffered a relapse. However, Tony’s wife has said that the claims about him suffering from any type of cancer are “absolutuly false”, reports thewest.com.au.
At the time of his death Tony was said to be wearing his signature faded red baseball cap which he wore on set to a number of his movies dating back to Top Gun in 1986.
Many Hollywood stars that Tony worked with over the years paid tribute to the English director. Tom Cruise, star of Top Gun, said: “Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him. He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable. My deepest sorrow and thoughts are with his family at this time.”
Val Kilmer, also of Top Gun fame said that Tony Scott was the “kindest film director I ever worked for”.
