Looks like we could be in for a white Christmas… what about Halloween?

According to forecasters, Ireland could be covered in a sheet of snow and ice... but thankfully, not until Christmas.

According to forecasters, Ireland could be covered in a sheet of snow and ice… but thankfully, not until Christmas.

We usually get past Halloween before we start talking about Christmas, but one weather forecaster is already predicting a white one even though there’s still 14 weeks until the big day…

According to a weather forecaster with Netwatch.tv, Ireland will be hit by snow, ice and freezing temperatures this winter, mainly thanks to high-pressure systems pulling cold polar air down from the North Pole.

Thankfully, the predictions say that October looks set to be quite a bit drier than last year, but November looks set to be another wet one. However, we’d take that with a pinch of salt, because lets face it, we all know you can never be 100 per cent sure up until about two weeks away.

Anyway, back to the present. Met Éireann is predicting a nice dry day today in most areas, with some sunny spells, mainly in parts of the east and south, but rather cloudy overall. Maximum temperatures are set at 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.

The good news is that Friday and Saturday are expected to be good sunny days, so make the most out of it this weekend if you can. God knows when we’ll see the likes of it again.
