Jamie Oliver, the famous TV chef, claims that ‘30,000 napkins a month’ are stolen from his restaurants, and napkins aren’t the only things going walkies.
How desperate must you be for set of napkins if you have to steal them from a Jamie Oliver restaurant? Now, you might forgive some Jamie Oliver fans for taking one, but according to the man himself around 30,000 napkins seem to vanish every month from his restaurants. At that rate, he’ll be out of business in no time.
Napkins aren’t the only other things that are pushing Jamie’s cost margins through the roof. Apparently, Jamie had old school Thomas Crapper toilets installed in his restaurants because he said they looked ‘wicked’, however, he was left with no other option than to weld the handles to the crappers after punters were caught walking out with them.
This got us thinking… Losing 30,000 napkins and a few toilet handles must cost a fair amount to replace seeing as he’s complaining about so much. So what we want to know is how much do Irish restaurants lose every year on ‘five finger discounts’?
As for Jamie and the case of the missing napkins, he says he thinks it’s down to the recession. Yea, whatever makes you sleep at night, Jamie…

See what you’ve done now?
