This year’s GAA/GPA Hurling All Stars have just been announced along with this year’s ‘Hurler of the Year 2012’. No prizes for guessing who the ‘Hurler of the Year’ is.
Kilkenny’s Henry Shefflin has just won this year’s ‘Hurler of the Year’ title at the GAA/GPA Hurling All Star awards. It didn’t come as much of a surprise seeing the hurling legend accepting his award, if we’re completely honest, but it was nice to see him getting it from the former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey, who’s looking a little thin on top as of late – which Henry was kind enough to point out.
This will be Shefflin’s third time winning the ‘Hurler of the Year’ award, and his 11th time being picked for the All Star team. All that’s left from him to do now is to win another Liam McCarthy cup with Kilkenny in order to bring his tally up to an even ten.
Galway’s Johnny Coen received the ‘Young Hurler of the Year’ award after his thrilling performances for the Tribesmen on their way to the All-Ireland final this year.
Fair play to them both…
