Budweiser doesn’t like the taste of Denzel Washington’s new movie

Brewing giants Budweiser have written to Paramount Pictures asking them to obscure all images of their beer from Denzel Washington’s new movie.

Major corporations usually chomp at the bit to get their products into major motion pictures, especially if there’s a big name staring in it like Denzel Washington. However, brewing house Anheuser-Busch, makers of Budweiser, have asked for all images of their beer to be obscured from Denzel’s new movie Flight… because it’s a movie about a pilot who’s accused of drinking and flying.

In the letter Robert McCarthy, the vice president of Budweiser, said Anheuser-Busch had ”no knowledge of the use or portrayal of Budweiser” prior to or during the film’s production and that the studio did not contact the brewing company for permission.

”We would never condone the misuse of our products, and have a long history of promoting responsible drinking and preventing drunk driving.

“It is disappointing that Image Movers, the production company, and Paramount chose to use one of our brands in this manner.

”We have asked the studio to obscure the Budweiser trademark in current digital copies of the movie and on all subsequent adaptations of the film.”

Flight was released in US cinemas this week but it won’t it our screens until mid-February.
