Video: This is what it looks like to drop a 180-tonne train

As the old saying goes ‘the bigger they are, the harder they fall’, so it’s no wonder why this 180-tonne train made an almighty noise when it fell from a crane.

This brand spanking new American Engineered EMD GT46C-ACe work train was being delivered to a manganese mining company in Gabon, Central West Africa, when one of the ropes holding train snapped causing it to come crashing back down to terra firma.

We’re not sure how much an EMD GT46C-ACe would cost you but we have a feeling that this particular one is a complete write off. You certainly wouldn’t want to be the guy who tied those ropes together in the first place.
