This cop in Pennsylvania was recorded driving backwards at speed and on a main highway, but no one seems to know why… not even the cops themselves.
Tom Lyons, an average Joe Soap, was driving with some friends on route 476 in Pennsylvania when he looked across to see a cop car driving beside them. The only problem there was that the cop car was on the other side of the road and it was going backwards.
Tom told motoring site Jalopnik that he was going about 75 MPH and the officer was nearly keeping up. “He had to have had it completely floored to be keeping up with traffic like that,” said Tom.
Naturally, Jalopnik decided to see if they could get the cop’s side of they story and it took awhile but the Pennsylvania Police force finally got back with this statement: “From the quick snapshot that this video provides, there is very little information available. There could be many reasons that he is driving in reverse and quite often on our job there are many factors that come into play when responding to and handling emergency situations.”
In other words, “we have no idea what he was up to”.
