A Dutch hotel is so proud at the fact that their establishment is unbelievably bad they’ve decided to release a book about the place titled ‘The Worst Hotel in the World’.

In the Hans Brinker Budget Hotel in Amsterdam patrons are told – or more to the point ‘warned’about the limited facilities the hostel has to offer. On the hostel’s website they list the various services and amenities that the “budget hotel” has offer, such as:

– A basement bar with limited light and no fresh air.
– A concrete courtyard where you can relax and enjoy whatever sunshine is able to pass the high buildings on either side on the extremely infrequent days when it’s actually sunny.
– An elevator that almost never breaks down between floors.
– A bar serving slightly watered down beer.
– Amusing witticisms and speculations about former guests’ sexual preferences scrawled on most surfaces.
– The Hans Brinker Budget Hotel, Amsterdam Luxury Ambassadorial Suite (featuring the Hans Brinker’s one and only bath-tub).
– Doors that lock.

Now, in fairness, the Hans Brinker hotel mainly caters to students and young backpackers looking for somewhere to stay on the cheap. Prices start at € 22.50 and go up to € 53.50 per person, per night. Still somewhat pricy for a hostel considered to be the world’s worst.

According to the guys who wrote the book, “The Worst Hotel in the World”, it will tell you everything you wanted to know, and many things you didn’t, about the hotel described as, ‘similar as hell, but without the proper heating’. Nice.

But will the owners ever change and clean up their act? Not likely. Manager Tijmen Receveur said: ‘Guests love our humour and sarcasm – and they have diminished their expectations to less than nothing.’

Here’s a look at some of the ‘budget hotel’s’ advertising and don’t forget to look them up the next time you’re on TripAdvisor, for the reviews of course.
