Heavy rainfall over the weekend caused disruptions for traffic this morning, especially in low-lying areas. But thankfully, it looks like it will be dry for the rest of the week.
The Gardaí have warned motorists to be extra vigilant on the roads today after a weekend of constant rain caused flooding in some areas. If you do have to drive today, make sure to take it handy, drive with your lights on (yes, even though it’s daytime) and give yourself plenty of time so that you’re not rushing in the rain.
Speaking on driving in dodgy conditions an AA spokesperson said, “Only drive through water if you know it’s not too deep for your car.
“If you have to drive through water, drive through the centre of the road as that is the highest point but only when it’s safe to do so.”
The weather outlook for the rest of the week doesn’t look too bad with Met Éireann reporting clear skies for the majority of the east coast and midlands until Thursday. The rest of the country will experience some scattered spells throughout the week, but all in all it looks set to be fairly decent. Apart from the temperature, which looks likely to average out at 1C on Wednesday and Thursday.
