According to meteorologists, it’s very unlikely that we’ll get a white Christmas this year thanks to some mild weather, which is keeping the frost at bay.
It was looking as though we were going to be in for a right lashing of snow this winter and only last week temperatures were dropping to as low as -3C, but according to forecasters from Met Éireann, we’ll experience some milder weather for the rest of December. So you can put the hat and carrots away, because you won’t be building any well endowed snowmen this year.
While there is currently no sign of a cold front coming for Christmas, there are still some weather warnings being reported today. The Coast Guard has been warning people to be extra vigilant this weekend as strong easterly winds cause havoc on eastern sea fronts. So if you’re walking along a pier or having a leisurely walk along the sea front just be careful of large, fast moving waves.
As for the rest of the week, there will be scattered sometimes-persistent rainfall through to Friday, but Tuesday looks like it will be fairly clear for the entire day. Average temperatures will be between 4C and 5C with lowest temperatures reaching -1C on Tuesday.
