Rafael Benitez narrowly missed out on winning his first trophy as the new manager of Chelsea after the Blues lost 0-1 to Corinthians in the Club World Cup final.

Benitez was surely out to prove his worth against Corinthians in the Club World Cup final in Japan, but a 69-minute goal from Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero was enough to secure the title for the Brazilian side. The loss makes Chelsea the first team since 2006 to lose out on the Club World Cup after winning the Champions League.

Unluckily for Chelsea fans, Fernando Torres had the ball in the back of the net in injury time but the goal was disallowed for being offside. Moments beforehand, Torres missed an absolute sitter by shooting straight for the Corinthians goalkeeper and Gary Cahill was sent off.
