One of the best things to watch coming up to the New Year is Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year hosted by the tax-avoiding comedian Jimmy Carr. Well this year it garnered some unwelcome complaints.
Thanks to a few lewd jokes about the Queen & the Duke of Edinburgh and Barack Obama, Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year has been given a right telling off from the UK TV watchdog Ofcom.
The show, which was broadcast on Sunday evening, featured a number of celebrity guests including Jonathan Ross, James Cordon, Jack Whitehall and comedian Russell Howard.
However, it was Cordon and Whitehall who caused the most trouble and reports say the pair drank a bottle of wine each during the recording – they also ordered in a pizza.
The complaints relate to a number of things Whitehall said including a joke about the bladder infection suffered by the Duke of Edinburgh last summer and also that Olympic gold medallist Bolt could ‘rake it in’ by going to stud like the retired racehorse Frankel.
Whitehall also made a joke about Obama using the oval office as his personal ‘masterbatorium’ where he has the occasional ‘posh wank’.
Still, it was all in good fun, but the jokes are sure to have some consequences for the Channel 4 and the show.
