Today sees the Premier League kick-off in a new year and football legend Gary Lineker has already picked his Sports Personality of the Year.
West Brom and Fulham kicked-off earlier today and it didn’t take long for someone to score the first goal of 2013.
In the 38th minute of the game West Brom were gifted with a corner only to see it headed away to Giorgos Karagounis who then lobbed it out to Berbatov in the centre circle who passed it out to Ashkan Dejagah.
After some neat footwork by Dejagah, Berbatov once again found himself with the ball and it was an easy nutmeg past Ben Foster to secure Berbatov’s title as the first goal scorer in 2013.
Gary Lineker quickly took to Twitter to let his feelings known…
He also made it clear that he won’t be handing out the award if Alexander Kacaniklic somehow happens to scoop the prize. Hard to spell, even harder to pronounce.
