We imagine that Tesco’s Customer Care Twitter account got a lot of enquiries along these lines in the last 24 hours, which makes their serious reply all the more surprising… and hilarious.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last day or so, word emerged yesterday that quite significant amount of horse meat had been found in Tesco beef burgers, prompting a little outrage but a helluva lot of memes, pictures, general piss-taking and horse-related puns at what as quite an embarrassing incident for the multinational supermarket chain. Click here for a flavour of what went on.
Given the PR disaster on their hands, we would have thought that all Tesco staff would have been clued into what went on, but obviously not the person responsible for the Tesco UK Customer Care Twitter account, who fell for a fairly obvious joke included in a tweet from a Tesco customer.

And it didn’t stop there either. After the customer in question replied to Tesco’s original response, the Customer Care representative continued to help him out despite what they must have thought was an unusually high amount of re-tweets for what appeared to be a fairly routine request and the fact that there were a number of comments from others along the lines of ‘brilliant’, ‘hilarious’ etc.

Poor guy or girl, they were just trying to help out. They’ll neigh better in future.
