Today is ‘Blue Monday’, the most depressing day of the year (apparently)

How are you feeling today? Have your New Year's resolutions gone down the pan? Are your Christmas bills due? Well don't feel too bad, because you're not alone (apparently).

How are you feeling today? Have your New Year’s resolutions gone down the pan? Are your Christmas bills due? Well don’t feel too bad, because you’re not alone (apparently).

According to a UK psychologist named Cliff Arnall, the third Monday of the year is the single most depressing day for the majority of people out there.

But why? Well, it is a Monday after all – no one likes Mondays – but also because most people’s Christmas shopping bills come in early January and the weather is always pretty dismal this time of year.

But what if you’re actually feeling really good today? Well, according to the Inquisitr.com, many have questioned Arnall’s scientific claim since it was created back in 2005, calling it nothing more than a marketing campaign for a travel company. Uh, oh.

In fairness to Arnall, he’s said that pinpointing a specific ‘most depressing day’ isn’t particularly helpful to anyone, but he does appreciate that people use Blue Monday as a time to re-examine their lives.

So, what do you think? Is Blue Monday a particularly depressing day? If so, let somebody know. We always have an open ear here at JOE.
