We all know that the government has been stuck for ‘a bit of cash’, as of late. Well, it looks like they’re planning on using the M50 toll for more than just a toll. Reports this morning say that the Department of Transport estimates that around €50m could be recouped from lost motor tax revenue by using the tolls to catch untaxed motors.
Around 103,000 vehicles pass though the toll everyday, so it’s a prime location to catch anyone who hasn’t paid up. If the system works it could be rolled out to other toll locations and even the speed camera network.
