The rather brilliant folks at Irish Archaeology have made our morning with a great picture of Dublin from way back when.
As we hurry around the capital city today, dodging, rain, umbrellas and crowds of tourists, we sometimes forget just how long the old place has been knocking around.
We also forget just how much has changed, and just how much has stayed the same.
This picture, tweeted out by the excellent people at Irish Archaeology (@irarchaeology) shows the corner of Nassau Street as it turns into the bottom (or top) of Grafton Street.

As you can see, the curve of the street, the wall, Trinity’s railings and even the street lights are the same as we have today. The fashions are very different and the Molly Malone statue, with accompanying leprechauns, have yet to make their appearance at the junction.
(Top) hats off for a great snap.
