The front page of The Sun today is particularly tasteless

There’s no doubting that the Oscar Pistorius murder case is the biggest news story this week, but surely The Sun could have chosen a different way to cover it than their front page this morning.

Pistorius is in court today facing murder charges over the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, who was found dead in the athlete’s home in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The news caused shockwaves throughout the globe when everyone woke up to hear it yesterday morning and it has been the biggest story for media outlets everywhere in the last 24 hours.

Not for the first time, however, The Sun have courted controversy for their approach to a story after opting to splash a huge picture of a scantily clad Steenkamp on their front page, which, under the circumstances, is pretty damn tasteless.

Not surprisingly, there has been a pretty vociferous reaction on various social media platforms, particularly on Twitter, and a petition has even been set up in an attempt to force The Sun to apologise for their actions.

Critics of The Sun will say that they are not exactly surprised and it will be interesting to see whether the heated reaction attracts any response from the newspaper.
