Walking away from a car crash is lucky, but walking away from a 480kph (300mph) crash is pretty much a miracle.
Antron Brown is surely thanking his lucky stars after his weekend crash at the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, California, as he collided into a concrete wall at 480kph and walked away without a scratch.
It just goes to show the standard of safety equipment that’s being used in motorsport these days. Thankfully, a lot of the impact was absorbed by the car’s new cockpit canopy, which was a safety feature only introduced into the sport this year. It’s clear from the damage done to the car and the safety wall that it was one seriously hard crash.
Maybe the new safety feature came a little too late for some unlucky drivers in the past, but at least it’s here now.
