One Dublin granny is being praised for her bravery today after a court heard that she attacked an armed robber with a copy of the RTÉ Guide last year. So think twice the next time you laugh at your mam for asking if you want to take the guide back home with you.
According to BreakingNews.ie the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court was told that during the raid of Mace Shopping Centre in Clontarf in October last year, 85-year-old customer, Dorothy Holmes, used the RTÉ Guide to hit the culprit as he threatened a cashier.
27-year-old Edward Hutton of Railway Road, Donaghmede, pleaded guilty to robbery and was handed down a three-year jail sentence.
