After Prince Philip’s most recent semi-racial gaffe we’ve been arguing in the office over who’s the most inappropriate person in the public eye (Frankie Boyle doesn’t count). So we’re turning to you for help…

If there’s one thing that catches our attention here in the office, it’s when someone with authority does – or in this case says – something they really shouldn’t.

So we’re pitting Prince Philip against Silvio Berlusconi to see who you think is the most inappropriate of the two… we never said this would be easy.

To help you decide here are some of their worst gaffes…

Prince Philip

1) After being told that Madonna was singing the Die Another Day theme in 2002: “Are we going to need ear plugs?”

2) Peering at a fuse box in a Scottish factory, he said: “It looks as though it was put in by an Indian.” He later backtracked: “I meant to say cowboys.”

3) “I never see any home cooking – all I get is fancy stuff”.

4) “We go into the red next year… I shall have to give up polo.”

5) “A few years ago, everybody was saying we must have more leisure, everyone’s working too much. Now everybody’s got more leisure time they’re complaining they’re unemployed. People don’t seem to make up their minds what they want.”

Silvio Berlusconi

1) “I am, and not only in my own opinion, the best Prime Minister who could be found today. I believe there is no one in history to whom I should feel inferior. Quite the opposite.”

2) “I am the Jesus Christ of politics. I sacrifice myself for everyone.”

3) “Mussolini never killed anyone. Mussolini used to send people on vacation in internal exile.”

4) “What’s his name? Some tanned guy. Ah, Barack Obama! You won’t believe it, but the two of them sunbathe together because the wife is also tanned.”

5) “Italy is now a great country to invest in … Today we have fewer communists, and those who are still there deny having been one. Another reason to invest in Italy is that we have beautiful secretaries.”

They’re some pretty harsh and cringey words, but inappropriate all the same, so make sure to tell us who you think is more inappropriate in the poll below…
