The mobile company 3 have recently released their latest advert (above) and after three days it has already notched up over 1,000,000 views. So in the spirit of great ads, we’ve decided to pick our top five.

John West Tuna

You’ll find it hard to find someone who doesn’t get a kick from the ‘Man vs. Bear’ John West Tuna advert. It featured a massive grizzly bear that caught a big salmon and a John West fisherman who used some sneaky tactics to get his hands on the single fish. Funny stuff.

Volkswagen

Every year the Super Bowl means two things: American football and adverts. While the football gets the viewers, it’s the adverts that keep them glued to the screen.

Last year, VW came out with this great advert titled ‘The Force’ that featured the all-new Passat and a mini Darth Vader. Audiences around the world loved it, and in fairness, it’s not hard to see why.

Snickers

It’s a bit of an old one, but who could forget the Snickers ‘Batman’ advert? The advert probably wouldn’t go down too well these days, seeing as serious head injuries like concussions are a big talking point in the NFL. Still, this was back in the day, and it was just showing some love to the Batman.

Guinness

There are two things that Guinness do well, the first being stout, the second being adverts. They’ve come out with some seriously good ads over the years, but the stand out commercial for the makers of the black stuff has to be the ‘Surfers and Horses’ ad. It was more of a short film than an advert and it really drilled home the message that good things come to those who… wait.

John Smith Bitter

The John Smith Bitter adverts would always bring a smile to your face, and only half the reason for that was the fact that the ads featured funny man Peter Kay. There were a number of them over the years, but this one, featuring John Smith’s championship diving attempt, is definitely our favourite.
