It might sound like every 15-year-old hormonal boy’s dream, but one young lad in Galway must choose which of his parents goes to jail and which gets community service.

Judge Alan Mitchell made the ruling against an unnamed family from Galway today over their 15-year-old’s poor school attendance record. Seems like a bit of a harsh punishment for just missing a few days of school, right?

Well, according to the Irish Independent, the boy has missed 91 days out of 114 this school year to date, so it’s not as if he decided to go on the mitch for the craic with the lads once or twice – not that any of us ever have…

Speaking about the ruling, Judge Mitchell said: “He can consider which of his parents he wants to go to prison for 21 days and which gets the suspended sentence.”

However, Judge Mitchell also said he will consider suspending any sentence the parents get until the end of the school term so that he can review the teen’s school attendance from here on out.
