Brake checking is one of the most dangerous things anyone can do on the road, so you can imagine this guy’s surprise when a cop does it on a highway.
If you’re driving at speed on a main road and there’s someone up your arse you can do two things; firstly, you can be a normal driver and pull over to let the tailgating asshat pass, or you can brake check them by slamming on your brakes which in turn makes them slam on their brakes.
However, brake checking someone rarely ends well. Chances are you’ll just end up causing an accident, or worse, you could kill someone. Sadly, it seems like no one told that to this out of state cop who was driving in South Carolina.
Chad Walton was driving his truck on the motorway when he got held up by this slow moving cop from North Carolina, so fearing the worst (and rightly so, as you’ll see) Walton started recording the rest of his journey. Skip to the 1:00 minute mark if you’re in a rush.
“That video doesn’t lie,” Walton told WWAY News by phone. “You can see how it happened. You can see the speedometer in the video, where you can see I was going 60 miles an hour.”
To make the situation that bit worse, after Walton finally gets around the cop by undertaking a motorist in the middle lane, the cop also undertakes in order to get back in front of Walton. As Ricky Bobby once said, ‘If you’re not first you’re last’.
In fairness, we don’t know exactly what happened prior to the brake check, maybe Walton was being an asshat himself, but still, a cop should know better…
