The Tyrone footballers are the latest victims of Joe Brolly’s witty wrath

Joe Brolly taunting the Tyrone footballers on Twitter is nothing new but his most recent wind-up of Mickey Harte’s men was particularly brilliant.

Joe Brolly joining Twitter has been an even better development than expected.

Not only has he aimed good-natured (if slightly provocative) taunts at the likes of Paul Galvin and Colm Parkinson, he has also spread the message about the importance of organ donation, a cause close to his heart and something which he elaborated upon in a brilliant appearance on the Late Late last week.

As anyone who has watched him analyse Gaelic Football on RTE will know, one of Brolly’s cause celebres is tactical fouling and how the scourge has affected the game of late.

He has pointed the finger at a number of counties in recent times, but possibly because of his desire to wind-up the neighbours in the north, it is Tyrone who have borne the brunt of his criticism since he joined Twitter a few weeks back.

Sensitive fans of the Red Handers might be a little sore about his latest swipe at Tyrone this morning, but it was hard not to have a chuckle at it all the same.

It can be hard not to take offence at some of Brolly’s comments when they involve your own county and when they are delivered almost immediately after the heat of battle, but if you’ve a thick enough skin his Twitter account makes for great entertainment and should continue to do so throughout the summer.

Keep up the good work Joe.
