That must have been some snowball…
Derby matches are always passionate affairs no matter where they’re being held but the recent meeting between Bulgarian rivals, CSKA and Levski Sofia, was no different.
The match may have been played in chilly blizzard conditions but tempers and passions were burning on the pitch and they boiled over in the early stages.
CSKA’s coach Stoycho Mladenov appeared to be hit by a snowball thrown from the crowd which knocked him unconscious although Levski have since claimed that he was feigning injury.
Levski fans didn’t help their image by breaking through the fences that surrounded the pitch, forcing more than a 100 policemen to stop them from making their way to the pitch.
JOE has been hit by plenty of snowballs over the years but they’ve never caused us to pass out, maybe they make them stronger in Bulgaria.
As for the match, league leaders CSKA won it 3-0 and here’s the footage of the snowball incident.
