One gentleman even registered for a course thinking he was signing up for water charges.

There are a lot of educationally-challenged people out there, as the people who run Coláiste Uisce have found out in recent.

Coláiste Uisce is an Irish language adventure college but is being mistaken for Irish Water, the root of the problem being the similarity in the names of the respective websites – uisce.ie vs water.ie.

“We knew something was wrong when a 54-year-old registered on a Leaving Cert exam focused course,” said Daithí Ó Gallachóir, Education Manager at Uisce.

“So we called him back initially thinking he was interested in sending a son or daughter to the college, the possibility that this man was registering for the water charges didn’t even cross our minds. It took quite a lot of explaining to do but we eventually figured it out, and he got a bit of a kick out of it in the end.”

The college have made the most out of the confusion, even making this promotional video.
