The latest figures are pretty high.
Dublin Bus drivers don’t give change back which is a pain when you don’t have the exact amount because you always end up overpaying.
The drivers do give you receipt/change ticket for the overpayment that you can claim back, if you bring it, along with the ticket you bought, to Dublin Bus on Upper O’Connell Street.
To be honest, we don’t know anyone who has ever done that and it turns out a lot of people don’t bother as only 25% of the money has been reclaimed.
In total, there is €1.9 million a year left unclaimed. We are so so lazy.
The unclaimed change goes to good use as the company returns it to communities across the greater Dublin area through the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Awards.
Dublin Bus has encouraged customers to reclaim their change, or to purchase pre-paid tickets or a Leap Card.
That does make sense.
Hat-tip to Independent.
