The weather is set to get “bitterly cold” later this week…
While the wintery spells aren’t going to match those that are currently disrupting the east coast of the US, Ireland is expected to face some “bitterly cold weather” this week, according to Met Éireann.
Sleet and snow showers are predicted to hit tomorrow in western and northern parts of the country, especially on high ground areas, and strong blustery winds will definitely make the day feel even colder.
Sure you wouldn’t be long getting frostbit…
Temperatures will range between just 2C and 5C, so make sure to bring a hat and scarf with you if you’re heading anywhere tomorrow.
You’ll bloody well need it.
The snow showers are set to continue tomorrow night and Thursday morning and motorists are being warned that the freezing conditions will make driving particularly hazardous on Thursday morning.
According to Met Éireann: “The showers [on Thursday] will be most frequent over the hills and mountains of the west and north but all areas are at risk as they will be carried on the moderate to fresh westerly wind, which will veer northwest later.”
As for the weather warning, Met Éireann has currently issued a Yellow Warning which they say: “is to notify those who are at risk because of their location and/or activity, and to allow them to take preventative action.
“It is implicit that YELLOW level weather alerts are for weather conditions that do not pose an immediate threat to the general population, but only to those exposed to risk by nature of their location and/or activity.”
