Do we hear Oscar?
Nightcrawler was the last film that we saw Jake Gyllenhaal in and while he was utterly brilliant as the sleezy and creepy journalist, we couldn’t help but feel like we wanted to give him a sandwich.
His transformation for that role was really impressive but it seems that Donnie Darko has had enough of being gaunt and skinny because it looks like he has been hitting the gym and punching bags hard over the last few months.
The trailer for his latest film Southpaw, directed by Training Day’s Antoine Fuqua, has just been released and it looks very promising.
In the film Gyllenhall plays Billy “The Great” Hope , the reigning Junior Middleweight Champion, who feels on top of the world until a tragic accident leaves his wife dead and sends him into a downward spiral.
It’s safe to say that this isn’t a comedy but rather a gritty, raw and tough drama about a mans road to personal redemption.
We’re getting flashbacks of another boxing film. What was it called again? Adriaaaaaan!
