60 Irish ex-pats have gathered together in New York City to show support for a Yes vote in the upcoming referendum on Marriage Equality.
The message from the Irish abroad is, “We don’t have a vote, but we do have a voice.”
The crowd held up the words “Make Us Proud, Make History #VoteYesForEquality” on the Pier A plaza in downtown Manhattan with the recently completed Freedom Tower in the backdrop.
“I am delighted to stand with my fellow Irish citizens in New York to let the Yes Equality campaign knows that we admire and support the amazing work they are doing in advance of this referendum,” Belinda McKeon said.
“These are tough months for LGBTQ people at home, especially young people, who are hearing their very right to love and to be happy debated in the media. But all of us are on your side.”
