That’s 12-A for Irish film fans.
JOE would argue that any people that were raised on those classic films from the ’80s are less likely to be shocked by what they see in their cinema today.
Think about it, Gremlins saw a granny killed by flying through a window, Indiana Jones served up chilled monkey brains for dinner while Home Alone taught us all that it’s perfectly fine to shoot a man in the testicles with an air rifle.
Kids films were darker than a pint of Guinness at 4am back then.
The PG-13 rating, or 12A as it’s known over here, is becoming increasingly popular because studios are tapping into a lucrative demographic.
The rules that govern this rating system have definitely changed and it’s very interesting to see how.
Take a look.
