Pics/Tweets: Amazing crowds and amazing colour in Dublin for the Dublin Pride parade today

Great to see

It’s like May 23 all over again.

A little over a month on from one of the most historic days in Irish history, the crowds are out in force on the streets of Dublin today for the Dublin LGBTQ Pride parade.

Before today’s event, it was anticipated that this year’s parade would be the biggest ever staged in the city and there are already signs that it will eclipse the 45,000 that turned out to march last year.

The parade kicked off in Parnell Square at 1.30pm and will be making its way towards Merrion Square, passing through O’Connell Street and over the Talbot Memorial Bridge along the way.

You can track the progress of the parade here and also keep an eye on Dublin Bus and AA Roadwatch for updates on the various road closures and traffic measures that are in place throughout this afternoon.

Not only have crowds been turning out in their droves, but they’ve been bringing some amazing colour to the capital while they’re at it; have a look at some of the best examples below.

Fingers crossed the weather holds up for as long as the parade lasts; afterwards, the celebrations are likely to last long into the night before the ten-day festival comes to a close tomorrow.
