The campaign is stepping up a notch ahead of the big vote in October.
The people of Ireland have long recognised Galway as a great city for the arts and culture and the people of the city itself are hoping that such recognition spreads to the continent in the near future.
The city of the Tribes is one of 12 cities across Europe competing to be named the 2020 European Capital of Culture and they haven’t wasted in any time spreading awareness of that bid.
Galway 2020 – We Are Starting Now from Galway2020 on Vimeo.
Following on from a promotional video released earlier in the year, the latest one (see above) focuses on the citizen-led campaign, which involves:
1108 participants in 20 public Speak Outs across the four corners of Galway
784 new volunteers across 4 new teams
Events and projects run by the people of Galway
Imaginative chalk decorations on the streets
Children’s Haiku poetry workshops where little ones get to dream up their visions for Galway 2020
The people of Galway are certainly putting in the hard yards in an attempt to win this thing and we wish them all the very best.
