It’s like something out of the film Arachnophobia.
Everyone knows someone that just falls to pieces whenever they see a spider but Irish people are more used to dealing with a daddy longlegs in their kitchen than some of the more fatal and poisonous types in Australia.
Wesport, Mayo is as far removed form the outback as you could get but JOE reader Rhona Sweeney McDaid sent us is some snaps of a creepy-crawly that has taken residence in her shed. Truth be told, I’ve never seen anything like this on our shores before.
Maybe that’s just me, take a look.
Rhona says the she “now considers the shed as no mans land and I won’t go in there anymore. A friend of mine has put the fear of God into me by telling me that these aren’t normal and that I should get the EPA or some kind of exterminators or possibly just burn the shed down myself. I considered it but there’s wine in there too and that would be sacrilegious to burn that!”.
If any of you are spider experts then please get in touch and let us know if this type is common. I’ve certainly never seen a spider like this before.
