That’s dedication.
In the seven years since the release of Taken, we’ve gotten used to seeing Liam Neeson as an all-action badass that’s capable of single-handedly kicking the collective ass of an entire terrorist organisation.
So you can imagine our surprise when we saw these images of the Ballymena man walking around London this week looking more gaunt than usual.
Fans of Neeson need not be worried though, there’s a perfectly good explanation for Qui-Gon Jin/Michael Collins/Aslan’s new look. The man from Antrim has recently finished up work on Silence, a Martin Scorsese film set for release in 2016.
He’s playing a Cristovao Ferreira, a real-life Jesuit missionary who was tortured as part of the Japanese anti-Christian purges of the sixteenth century. We won’t spoil the movie for you, but his life didn’t get all that much better after that either – so the chances are he wasn’t the healthiest looking guy.
A representative of Neeson told The Mirror that the actor has never been healthier. So we guess those terrorists from Taken won’t be sleeping any easier.
Hat-tip to The Irish Mirror.
