Video: Four sharks circled a boat in Cork harbour for a scary amount of time this week

*Instantly starts playing Jaws theme music*

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.

Shark sightings aren’t all that common in Ireland but every now and again they pop around to say hello and our natural reaction is to freak out just a little.

Sean Ronayne was in a boat approximately seven miles out from Cork harbour on Thursday when he got something of a nasty surprise as four blue sharks began circling the boat for around two hours.

Here is the video of the four BLUE SHARKS which circled my boat for almost two hours today. It was a pretty amazing…

As you might expect, there was a bit of commotion on board the boat following the sighting of the sharks (Sean reckons the biggest shark was about nine feet long).

So, instead of the original audio (in which there was plenty of effing, blinding and we imagine, a lot of freaking out) he added a fitting sci-fi track as the background music instead.

Thankfully Sean returned to land unharmed (blue sharks are relatively harmless anyway), but the next time he goes out to sea, he might want to bring this guy along just in case.
