Boyers is to shut its doors in January 2016.
The department store, on North Earl Street in Dublin city centre, is part of the Arnotts Group that was recently taken over by Noel Smyth’s Fitzwilliam Finance Partners.
Staff and management at the company were informed on Wednesday that Boyers will close in January after an ‘orderly wind down.’
The store currently employs 48 people directly, with between 30 and 35 staff working on its various concessions.
Smyth said that the company would pay staff the redundancy terms agreed with their union representatives, and that closing down was “unavoidable” but “very regrettable.”
Dublin’s retail sector was rocked in June when Clery’s suddenly closed its doors on O’Connell Street.
