Another terrifying incident.
Reports from Mississippi this evening say a college professor was shot dead on the Delta State University campus today.
The University is on lock-down following the shooting that took place in the man’s office today and it’s thought the gunman is still believed to be on the run but off campus.
Delta State University has confirmed one fatality. Campus remains under lockdown. Please stay inside and away from windows.

Hundreds of law enforcement from across the state are on campus.

Students currently in residence halls need to remain there. Administrators are working to get food, water and counselors to the Coliseum.

The BBC are reporting that the victim is a history professor named Ethan Schmidt, who worked in the history department and specialised in Native American and colonial history.
Around 3,500 students are enrolled at the university near the Arkansas border.
