Today is the first day of October and though we’ve had a decent spell of weather so far this week, we can expect wintry conditions to take hold across the country for the next few months.
This morning, heavy fog has been causing problems all throughout the country, with delays to public transport services as well as a build-up of traffic on busy commuter routes.
Dense fog in places, giving dangerous driving conditions, will slowly clear during the morning. A dry, sunny day. Highs 15 to 18C.

Met Eireann have warned that the dense fog will lead to poor visibility before clearing a little later this morning.
After a cold start, we’re in for a fine, sunny day with temperatures as high as 18 degrees.
